Drawing from the tradition of displaying insects and butterflies, Sullivan Meservey creates imagined lifeforms into objects of curiosity and wonder, encouraging viewers to think preciously about hidden life. Meservey uses colored pencil on tinted paper, and frames each piece to complement the palette. Meservey draws inspiration from both microscopic life and cosmic phenomena.
Sullivan Meservey grew up in the Lost Pines of southeast Austin. He earned a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin in 2021 and has since developed a professional studio background in traditional fine art printmaking, including screenprinting, lithography, and mokuhanga. Meservey is a graphic illustrator and avid cyclist who lives with his cat, Ghost.
